The ticket stub that started it all

A note from our founder:

A few summers ago, I was going through some old boxes when I came across a Brooklyn Dodgers ticket stub from Saturday, July 8, 1950. Someone wrote “Albert’s first game” on the front, which is how I knew it was from my dad’s first ever baseball game, at just eight years old. Although my dad grew up a Dodgers fan, he’s rooted for the Phillies for as long as I’ve known him. The stub didn’t say who the Dodgers played, so I looked up the box score online and wouldn’t you know… they played the Phillies.

When I called my dad to tell him I found his ticket stub and ask about the game, he didn’t remember much about what happened that day, but we still had a great conversation—about baseball, about our favorite games we went to as kids, about life. It doesn’t matter if it’s an old, faded paper ticket or a new digital stub that lives in our phones, these tickets represent some of the most memorable moments of our lives.

My dad’s Dodgers stub inspired me to dig out my own collection and start sifting through those memories. It turns out my wife also had a dusty ziplock bag of old ticket stubs she’d been carrying around and adding to since the early ’90s. All these memories and what felt like relics from a forgotten era started to churn until the idea of Turnstile began to take shape as a space not just for ticket stubs, but also dedicated to our memories from each event.

After completing my MBA at Temple University in Philadelphia in the spring of 2023 and building an early concept of Turnstile that summer, I entered the idea into the university’s innovation competition that fall. To my surprise, it was named a finalist! Fast forward two more years of building out the idea, learning how to create a working prototype, and finding the right technical partner, and the company was officially incorporated in August 2025. Soon after came our first MVP of the app, beta testing across operating systems, and now—spring 2026—our app is approved, available for download, and waiting for your ticket stubs.

Thank you for trusting Turnstile to give your ticket stubs a long-term home and provide a space to share your memories behind the events. We hope that it builds connections among friends, fans, and the events they love as much as it sparks nostalgia.
